
Alexandra Morgan Carrasco, an American professional soccer player, plays as a striker for San Diego Wave FC (NWSL) which is the highest division of women's soccer in the United States. She also co-captained the United States women's soccer team from 2018 to 2020 with Megan Rapinoe as well as Carli Lloyd. [8][9] Morgan was selected number one in the Western New York Flash's 2011 WPS Draft shortly after she completed her degree early at the University of California, Berkeley. Morgan played for the California Golden Bears. Morgan made her debut as a professional there and was integral in helping the team win the league title. Morgan was just 22 at the time, and was the youngest player on the national team at the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011. The team finished second. At the 2012 London Olympics she scored the winning goal in the 123rd minute in the semi-final against Canada. She was able to finish 2012 with 28 goals and 21 assists as she joined Mia Hamm as the only American woman who scored 20 goals and give 20 assists during the same calendar year , becoming the sixth the youngest U.S. player to score 20 goals in a single season. She was subsequently awarded the U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year , and was also a FIFA World Player of the Year finalist. Morgan played a key role in the United States winning their titles during the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cups and the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup. Morgan was selected on both the Dream Team and won the Silver Boot in 2019.
